Back-to-school tips and tricks from Denton MacKID

As August 10 approaches, it signals the start of the school year, there's a lot on the to-do list to ensure a smooth transition. Don't worry, we've got you covered with some helpful tips for taking pictures, preparing school lunches, and handling technology. Let's get ready for a successful school year!

As the countdown to the start of school begins for every family, there are numerous things to consider in order to be well-prepared. From school supplies to school lunches, technology, and vaccinations, the list seems endless.

As Denton ISD gears up to return on August 10, Denton MacKID has gathered some helpful tips to ensure a smoother back-to-school season.

One cherished tradition is capturing those iconic "First Day of..." photos each year. To streamline the morning routine and avoid delays, schools encourage parents and caregivers to take these photos at home before arriving, allowing the kids to start their day without any hitches.

When it comes to school lunches, local pediatricians recommend paying special attention to what children are eating during the day. A nutritious breakfast is essential to kickstart the day on the right foot, and parents should also ask about their children's lunchtime meals, as some kids may not be eating enough during school hours.

Textbooks are a thing of the past, and functioning gadgets like Chromebooks have become vital school supplies. To extend the lifespan of electronic devices, Denton MacKID offers some valuable advice.

Sluggish performance may be due to malware, which can be resolved with professional assistance. Updating drivers can also be helpful, a task that can be performed by the user or a tech expert at a store. Sometimes, the issue lies with the battery's inability to hold a charge, but rather than purchasing a new device, replacing the battery is a much more cost-effective solution.

Grime build-up is another common culprit for device issues. It can lead to heat-related problems when it accumulates in the computer's fan or hinders USB and HDMI connections when lodged in the ports. Cleaning the ports with compressed air and using electronic wipes on the screen and keyboard can help resolve these issues.

If the problems persist despite these efforts, it's advisable to contact the school or seek the assistance of an expert to ensure the student's technology is in top-notch condition for the school year. With these tips in mind, parents, caregivers, and students can look forward to a successful and hassle-free return to school.
